KENYA HARA | Suwari
With cooperation from Kenya Hara, HIDA has released chairs that fit in well with traditional Japanese-style rooms. Called Suwari (Japanese meaning "sit"), the line of chairs features legs that spread the weight to reduce the load on tatami mats and other traditional floors. In addition, each chair adds comfort and style to sitting in different situations. Line-up of chairs that fit comfortably in Japanese spaces.

Based on medical knowledge and ergonomic knowledge, the design aimed at “fusion of gentleness and beauty to the body” based on the research of “waist friendly chair” jointly started by industry, government and academia.

SORI YANAGI | Yanagi Collection
Hida Sangyo is reproducing the design works of Sori Yanagi, who laid the foundations for product design in Japan. The armchair was completed without destroying the original form by utilizing sophisticated wood bending techniques in the armrests. Furthermore, in 2017, this armchair was selected to go on display as part of the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
